2017 CSALC Convention

Dear Branch President and Secretary-Treasurers:

The 55th State Convention of the California State Association of Letter Carriers will convene at the Sheraton Park Hotel at the Anaheim Resort, 1855 S. Harbor Blvd., Anaheim, CA 92802. The convention will be on Friday, May 19 2017 and Saturday, May 20, 2017. On Thursday, May 18, 2017 we will be working with the NBA's office to put together our joint training.

Room rates in our block are: $152 (plus tax) per night, single or double for standard rooms. Hotel Suites run from $650 to $850 per night.

Deadline for room reservations is April 16, 2017. However branches should make reservations as soon as possible since availability is on a first come first served basis and Disney properties tend to sell out early. We may need to get a nearby overflow hotel if we go over on our group block for rooms.

Cancellations of reservations made less than 72 hours from the date of arrival will automatically be billed for one (1) night's room and tax. Hotel also imposes a $75 early departure fee for all guests who register for a specific length of stay and check out early.

Reservations can be made online through the Sheraton web link. Use this link to book rooms online.

While it is easier to track and make changes to reservations made on the Sheraton web link branches still have the option of calling in reservations to the hotel as well. To make reservations over the phone please call (866) 837-4197. When calling it is important to ask for the California State Association of Letter Carriers rate.

After letting them know you are part of this group you need to provide the hotel with each individual guests name, home or business address, requested type of room (which in most cases would be standard), requested bed (King or Queen/Queen), and check in and check out dates. Hotel does not confirm reservation to the individual in writing. It will track them on its web link reservations for those who book online. If you have a large group and will be calling in the hotel may ask you to send in a group reservation form.

Delegate Registration - Complete and accurate delegate registration forms must be received by 3/1/2017. Delegate badges and credentials will be created from the information you send in. All your registration information must be submitted electronically. Use this link to find the the Delegate Registration form and instructions. Use the tabs in the lower left hand corner of the form to find instructions.

Delegate, Alternate & Guest Cards - These cards will be initiated from the registration form. Please provide separate Guest and Alternate lists indicating the status of the persons listed. From these lists the official convention identification cards with a copy will be returned to you for the signatures of your President and Secretary-Treasurer. The signed official identification cards are to be put in alphabetical order by last name and returned to the CSALC Secretary Verle G Craven, 1237 Marin Ave, San Pablo, CA 94806 no later than March 20, 2017.

Alternates and Guests - An Alternate can only be admitted to the convention with written proof of election from his/her branch, or written evidence from the delegate for whom he/she is elected alternate, stating that the elected delegate is unable to attend the convention in accordance with the NALC Constitution. Guest badges will be issued when your branch registers its delegation.

On Site Registration - Delegate registration will begin on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and continue on Thursday, May 18 from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM. After 11:00 AM on Thursday, delegates and guests may register with the Convention Committee at their booth.

When you register your delegates, please bring your copy of the credential cards in alphabetical order by last name. Registration will be done by the authorized person indicated on the form (usually the Secretary/Treasurer or President) for the entire delegation. If the authorized person is not available, a letter must be presented signed by the President or Secretary/Treasurer identifying the person who will pick up the credentials. Please contact CSALC Secretary Verle Craven at (510)233-3546 with any questions or concerns.
